Talbot (Sandy) D'Alemberte, president of The Florida State University, will receive the 2001 Wickersham Award March 27 at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C.

The annual Wickersham Awards Dinner will honor D'Alemberte for his active participation in and contributions to the legal profession. D'Alemberte has been involved in a diverse and important array of initiatives during his career as a lawyer, state legislator, bar association official, professor and university president. He was president of the American Bar Association from 1991-92 and president of the American Judicature Society from 1982-84. His book, The Florida Constitution, was published in 1991.

The Wickersham Award acknowledges recipients for their exceptional public service and dedication to the legal profession. The Friends of the Law Library of Congress, a national organization that supports research, educational programs and other activities of the Law Library of Congress, sponsor the award and dinner.

The Wickersham Award was created in honor of George Wickersham (1858-1936), who conceived the Friends of the Law Library of Congress more than 70 years ago to help build a comprehensive national law library.
