The Professional Development Committee of the American Association of Law Libraries is seeking program proposals for a workshop on advanced cataloging for law libraries. Proposals for this new workshop are due June 1.
The 1 ½ day interactive seminar will be geared toward law librarians engaged in cataloging and is meant to be a follow-up to AALL's Basic Cataloging program. Some suggested topics might include metadata initiatives to support cross-domain searching; entry issues with governmental and NGO publications; and training and workflow for paraprofessionals. More suggested topics are available at http://www.aallnet.org/prodev/adv_cataloging.asp. However, these topics are only suggestions; proposers should feel free to expand upon these topics or not include them at all in their outlines.
The program is scheduled for July 2002 before the AALL Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla. After that initial presentation, the program will be offered several more times, in different regions of the country, during the following two years.
