Are you tangled in the knot of interpreting and applying copyright law? Then attend the American Association of Law Libraries Professional Development workshop "Applying Copyright Law in Libraries" June 1 in Provo, Utah. The workshop will explore the intricacies of copyright law and issues that affect librarians by analyzing the rights of owners and users of copyrighted works.
Topics will include the difference between copying in for-profit and nonprofit libraries, educational uses of copyrighted works, library document delivery services, audiovisual and digital materials, foreign works and licensing, developing policies, and monitoring compliance. Participants will also review and discuss the history and development of federal copyright law, applicable provisions of the Copyright Act of 1976 and subsequent legislation, interpretative court decisions, and congressional and other guidelines.
