The American Association of Law Libraries announces the winners of the 2001 AALL/Findlaw Excellence in Marketing (EIM) Awards, which honors outstanding public relations activities.
BEST BROCHURE: Jenkins Law Library of Philadelphia receives the 2001 EIM Award for Best Brochure. The library's Image Brochure, Jenkins Law Library: Where Tradition Meets Technology, explains library and technology services for library members.
BEST NEWSLETTER: Abigail Ellsworth of Washington, D.C. is the recipient of the 2001 EIM Award for Best Newsletter. Ellsworth edited and produced Wilkes Artis Library Information Connection for the Washington, D.C. firm Wilkes Artis. The newsletter provides readers with news of library marketing events, new services and resources, and topical developments in the legal world.
BEST CAMPAIGN: The U.S. Department of Justice's Justice Libraries in Washington, D.C., are the recipients of the 2001 EIM Award for Best Campaign. The libraries' "Marketing the Justice Libraries: Taking the First Steps" consisted of an ambitious publications and library events program. Among the achievements of the plan were the design of a new corporate logo, a grand reopening of the main library, and implementation of new user surveys.
BEST PUBLIC RELATIONS TOOLKIT: The U.S. Department of Justice's Justice Libraries in Washington D.C. are the recipients of the 2001 EIM Award for Best PR Toolkit. The libraries' bookmarks, bibliographies, brochures and library guides to Internet sources provided patrons with cohesive information about the library and its resources.
BEST USE OF TECHNOLOGY: The Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin is the recipient of the 2001 EIM Award for Best Use of Technology. LLAW received the award for its unique marketing of the chapter to Wisconsin's legal community by creating and producing four Internet legal research continuing education seminars.
Established by the Public Relations Committee, these awards recognize outstanding achievement in public relations activities in five categories by a person or group affiliated with AALL. Each award includes a cash prize of $250, donated by Findlaw.
The EIM awards will be presented during the 94th AALL Annual Meeting and Conference at the Association Luncheon July 16 in Minneapolis.
