I am pleased to announce that the Executive Board adopted AALL's 2010-2013 Strategic Directions at its recent board meeting, held in Chicago on April 9-10.
The Strategic Directions will serve as AALL's compass as we initiate programs and services on behalf of the law librarian profession during the next three years. They will also provide us flexibility to grow as an organization, while placing primary focus on our members.
The new strategic plan for AALL was drafted with input from the entire membership, including SISs, committees, caucuses, and chapters. The Executive Board's Strategic Directions Committee, under the exemplary leadership of Jean Wenger, worked on this new plan for more than a year. Its work included a member survey, an economic outlook survey, an environmental scan, and discussion platforms for members and AALL entities to make comments and provide input into the final document. The committee evaluated all the data and used it as the basis for developing the Strategic Directions.
The Strategic Directions Committee and the entire Executive Board greatly appreciate the participation in this process by the members and AALL entities. The input received informed the discussions. The result is a comprehensive plan for our future.
An overview of the 2010-2013 Strategic Directions will be presented to the membership at the 2010 Annual Meeting during the Business Meeting to be held July 12, at 2:15 p.m. at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Members attending the Annual Meeting are invited to attend this session to learn more about the future of AALL.
I would be remiss if I did not recognize the work of the Executive Board, and most importantly the board's Strategic Directions Committee. They put in countless hours of analysis and consideration to craft the AALL 2010-2013 Strategic Directions. For that effort, they deserve a sincere thank you.
