Why did you join AALL?
I joined because after working at West for many years, I knew how important this organization was to the law librarian community. Now that I'm in the club, I can see just how valuable AALL is for everything from networking to education to advocacy.

Why do you stay a member?
Well, I've only been a member for a year and a half. So far, it's to build a network of colleagues that I can turn to for assistance and guidance.

What one membership benefit is most valuable to you?
Aside from my answer to the next question, I really enjoyed CONELL and the Annual Meeting this past summer.

What is your favorite memory associated with AALL?
I'd have to say that from all the walking I did in Seattle in July, I tore the meniscus in my right knee, which required surgery. I'll get better shoes or more cab money for San Antonio.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Reading (like many librarians), mission work through my church, travel, and attending my daughter's school events.

What book(s) are you currently reading?
The Great Pearl Heist: London's Greatest Thief and Scotland Yard's Hunt for the World's Most Valuable Necklace by Molly Caldwell Crosby. I have a great system with my dad: I buy him books for his birthday, he reads them and then sends them back to me to read.

What’s your favorite travel/vacation destination?
My wife Penny and I like to spend time in tropical destinations. We have been to the Hawaiian Islands many times, and have recently started to frequent Cancun. Sun, surf, sand and some kind of fruity drink!
