"Next Generation Electronic Government Information Access Act of 1999" The library community, building on its cooperative legislative efforts during the 105th Congress that were included in S. 2288, the omnibus "Wendell H. Ford Government Publications Reform Act of 1998," has developed the "Next Generation Electronic Government Information Access Act of 1999." Our strategy for the 106th Congress has changed, as this draft legislation repeals and amends chapter 41, the GPO Access Act (P.L. 103-40), rather than chapter 19 which is the authority for the Federal Depository Library Program. This draft legislation provides an incremental approach to solving two of the most urgent challenges of electronic government information. Its purposes are to:
