BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Steve Berlin is the Deputy Director of the City of Chicago’s Board of Ethics, a position he has held since September 1993. Before that, he served as an attorney in private practice and for several non-profit organizations. He has also taught Business Ethics and the Arts at Columbia College in Chicago since 1992. He is a 1984 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law and in 1991 received an M.A. in Ethics from the University of Chicago Divinity School. He lives in Chicago with his wife and two daughters.
Mr. Steve Berlin will speak about “Ensuring Public Confidence in Government: the
Chicago Board of Ethics.” He will look at the role of ethics agencies in regulating the conduct of public officials and employees, and the relationship between ethics laws and ordinances and ethical standards generally.
