The Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL) is a non-profit organization comprised of law librarians and other information professionals in the greater Chicago area. It was formed as a chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) in 1947 to promote librarianship and information services, to develop and increase the usefulness of law libraries and to foster a spirit of cooperation among the members of the profession.

CALL Business Meeting Scheduled on May 22
Mark your calendars for the CALL Business Meeting on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Petterino's.  The Honorable Eugene R. Continuing Education Committee Presents Brown Bag on Foreign and International Law
Uncertain on how to begin your international law research? Looking for people resources who could provide guidance for particularly tricky foreign law questions? Then please attend the Foreign and International law Brown Bag on Thursday, May 8, 2008 where two experienced International law librarians will give you the information you need to streamline your research. Voting Open for Bylaws Amendments
The polls for voting on amendments to Articles XII & XIII of the CALL Bylaws opened March 31, 2008 and will close on May 2, 2008. All voting members should have received a ballot via email from John Austin on March 31, 2008. If you believe that you should have received a ballot but did not, please contact John Austin at jaustin@niu.edu

Community Service Committee Announces Two Spring Projects
The Commmunity Services Committe has decided to participate in two outside projects this spring: (1) Friends of the Parks Earth Day Parks & Preserves Clean Up; and (2) the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Cook County (CASA) Put Your Foot Down 5k Run & Walk.

The Friends of the Parks Earth Day Parks & Preserves Clean Up will be on Saturday, April 19, 2008, from 9am until noon. We will meet up with other volunteers to clean and green Union Park, which is located at 1501 W. Randolph St and is just a short walk from the Ashland stop on the Green and Pink lines. T-Shirts will be given on a first come, first served basis. The Earth Day Captain will also supply you with some work gloves, garbage bags, and cleaning supplies. If possible, please bring your own work gloves, brooms, shovels, wheelbarrows, buckets, hoses, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, and a rain poncho or jacket. Volunteers should dress in layers (i.e. T-shirt/sweater/jacket) with sturdy shoes. You may register online at http://www.fotp.org/events/earthday.asp. The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County Put Your Foot Down 5K will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 6:30pm in Lincoln Park. The race starts and finishes north of Fullerton Avenue, near Diversey Harbor and circles around the zoo and through the park. We are looking for runners, walkers, and volunteers. The proceeds will benefit CASA, which is an organization that recruits, trains, and supervies volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in court. Pre-registration is $25 per person ($23 for CASA members). On-line registration ends May 27, 2008. Race Day registration is $30 per person and will be available from 5pm to 6:15pm at the race site (cash, check or credit card). Volunteers Needed for "A Day in the Life: Law Librarian"
The CALL Placement & Recruitment Committee has developed a new program designed to educate people about opportunities in law librarianship and are looking for librarians to volunteer to meet with library school students, recent graduates, and/or individuals considering a career change. Joanne Kiley resigned on March 25, 2008. On the same day the Board, under the authority of Article X, Section 10.4 of the current Bylaws, appointed Ruth Bridges to office of Treasurer. Ruth accepted the appointment on March 25, 2008.

First CALL Institute Day to be Held on April 2
The CALL Institute Day Committee, a subcommittee of the Continuing Education Committee presents the First CALL Institute Day on Wednesday, April 2, 2008.  The theme and topic of the day will be "Emerging Technologies and their Applicability to Law Librarianship," featuring a dynamic panel of speakers from the private and academic law librarianship sector, as well as from the ABA. The event will be open to 40 registrants and will be held at the Metropolitan Library System (MLS). Breakfast and lunch will be included with the cost of registration. Joint CALL/SLA Business Meeting Scheduled on January 18
