On November 17th - Bring Your Letters For The U.S.Troops In Iraq
At the November 17 breakfast, the Community Services Committee will collect letters for our soldiers in Iraq.  Many injured soldiers coming back from the field often have no mail or news from the states and would greatly appreciate reading an uplifting letter or note from home.  To show support for our troops,  we are asking CALL Members to take the time to write a short note or letter on regular stationery or an attractive note card and to bring it to the November 17th breakfast.

Please place your letter/note in an envelope.  You can also bring picture postcards including those of our beautiful Chicago and holiday cards are also appropriate.  The Community Services Committee will collect the letters/notes/cards and forward them to a Chaplain stationed in Iraq no later than Friday, November 19th.  The Chaplain will hand them out to the injured US troops as they return from the field.

The troops are interested in hearing about news from home and any information regarding personal activities with your family and friends that you care to share.  Topics of interest include:  Sports, new movies, weather, things going on in your town, TV shows, jokes, general words of encouragement and support, interesting/unusual items like Internet dating, etc.  The only real requirement is that your letter/note be sincere and from the heart - as the kids say "keep it real."  The sacrifices the soldiers are making are very real and we should respond with sincerity and appreciation.

Thank you for participating and supporting our troops.  A special thanks goes to Tressler Soderstrom Maloney & Priess for contributing a portion of the postage.  If you have any questions about this project, please contact Elaine Dockens at edockens@tsmp.com.
