Summaries of Prior Year's BRAG Programs
2008
On Thursday, June 5, 2008, CoALL held its seventh annual Bridge the Research and Analysis Gap (BRAG) program. Attendees learned: the ins and outs of effective communication in regard to a research assignment; tips for using Casemaker; about Colorado-specific legal resources; how to conduct Colorado legislative history research; when to stop researching; and to be aware of one’s internet footprint. Presenters included: Stacey Bowers & JoAnna Patrick (Westminster Law Library, University of Denver); Alicia Brillon & Alan Pannell (University of Colorado Law Library); Andrea Hamilton (Faegre & Benson LLP); Margi Heinen (Sherman & Howard L.L.C.); Wanda McDavid (Access/Information); Holly Pinto (Holland & Hart LLP); Esti Shay (Westminster Law Library, University of Denver); and Mariann Storck (U.S. Attorney’s Office). Attendees also received advice on making the most of their summer work experiences from James A. Pinto, Shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck LLP.

2007
On May 31, 2007, CoALL held its sixth annual Bridge the Research and Analysis Gap (BRAG) program. Attendees learned how to effectively communicate about a research assignment, where to start and when to stop researching, what it's like to be a summer law clerk, how to use their organization's KM, how to make the most of secondary sources, how to find Colorado law and legislative history, and how to perform cost-effective research. Presenters included Mariann Storck from the U.S. Attorneys Office, Margi Heinen from Sherman and Howard, Holly Pinto from Holland and Hart, Alan Pannell and Alicia Brillon from the University of Colorado, Wanda McDavid from Access/Information, Andrea Hamilton from Faegre & Benson, and Megan Jens of Greenberg Traurig.

On June 1, 2006, more than 80 people attended CoALL’s fifth annual Bridge the Research and Analysis Gap (BRAG) program. Attendees learned about succeeding in a legal work environment, finding and using Colorado resources, and using practical legal research techniques. On Thursday, June 2, 2005, CoALL
held their fourth annual Bridge the Research & Analysis Gap (BRAG) Program for summer
clerks and new associates. Those that attended the program received information on doing practical research
for the first time, received a refresher on research skills and resources, and learned about
the practicalities of the legal work environment.

law firms in Denver attended this legal research institute. CoALL would
