Job Description:
Provides support in the maintenance of the physical libraries of the firm. Assists in the maintenance of the print collection and associated logging of materials into the firm’s integrated library management system. Assists in the distribution of materials to attorneys and administrative staff. Works with Managing Director, Directors and Managers on IS Information and Research Services projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the maintenance of the physical libraries and associated print collections. Processes incoming print materials and electronic newsletters by logging into our integrated library management system, routing, filing, and shelving. Discards materials in accordance with library retention rules.
- Processes new books, supplements, and newsletter binders including labeling and shelving. Catalogs supplements and serials. Assist with cataloging of other materials as needed.
- Maintains library circulation records and performs regular office sweeps to ensure correct data is logged in the integrated library management system.
- Maintains user records and routing/distribution lists housed in our integrated library management system. Monitors arrivals and departures and adjusts as appropriate.
- Assists Librarians in maintenance of desk book and office copy inventory and distribution to attorneys.
- Assists in the gathering and compiling of various departmental metrics.
- Assists Research & Reference staff in the fulfillment of research or reference requests as required.
- Maintains and evolves a working knowledge of the firm’s library collections, office copy distribution, related retention policies and technologies.
- Works with Managing Director, Director, and Library Services Manager on departmental projects and initiatives as requested.
- Acts as the local representative of the Librarian responsible for the library; actively seeks, collects and forwards requests for changes to the collection; assists in understanding the evolving needs of the practices and administrative departments served by the library.
- Travels as required to assist in the maintenance of branch or other firms libraries.
- Contributes to the firm's Service Excellence initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.
Job & Educational Requirements:
- 1 to 2 Years of experience
- BA/BS preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Working knowledge of print and digital legal and business resources and research techniques.
- Ability to work quickly, but with great attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability communicate clearly and effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills.

Job Description:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Research team in providing complex legal and transactional research in a global law firm practice.
- Provides customized research services to all attorneys, legal assistants, and support staff.
- Possesses excellent analytical skills to provide targeted work product that is responsive to the needs of our lawyers and clients.
- Utilizes appropriate fee-based, print and online resources in the areas of law and business to provide excellent practice support in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Uses project management and planning skills to prioritize competing assignments, work within recognized budgetary constraints and consistently meet tight deadlines.
- Assists with other research tasks and projects as required.
- Must possess strong case law research skills and expertise in the use of Courtlink and PACER and cite-checking tools.
- Must possess proficiency with Lexis and Westlaw; MS Office suite including Excel and Word.
Hours: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday).

- The ideal candidate will understand the information needs of attorneys in a high pressure, high profile practice. Attention to detail is critical and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision is essential.
- 5 years + experience at an AmLaw 50 law library or equivalent.
- M.L.S. from an ALA accredited program.
Preferred:
- Research expertise in International Arbitration, Banking and Financial Services.
- Proficiency with Kluwer Arbitration, IntelliConnect; Investor State Law Guide; Bloomberg BNA; and DIALOG.
