Real Estate Finance Bureau Director of Records Management—Office of the New York State Attorney General

Job Description:

  1. Assist with the development and implementation of an Request For Proposal(RFP) for e‐filing project for REF;
  2. Assist with the development of an archiving and cataloging system for existing REF paper files;
  3. General supervision and training of clerical staff, including developing new job descriptions for existing staff upon implementation of new e‐filing system;
  4. Plan, develop, and implement internal and external procedures for new efiling system;
  5. Manage workload and distribution of submissions to relevant staff, including attorneys and clerks;
  6. Delegate work and manage and instruct subordinates;
  7. Provide technical assistance to staff and external e‐filing system users;
  8. Analyze trends, compile reports, and other measurables, as needed;
  9. Assist with financial reporting and budgeting for the record room and FOIL section of REF;
  10. Ensure that information provided to the public such as regulations, statutes,and policies are current and up to date;
  11. Interface with the Department of Law IT staff on technical issues for e‐filing system;
  12. Interface with the public on issues pertaining to e-filing;
  13. Any other duties associated with the smooth operation of REF’s record room and FOIL sectio
Job & Educational Requirements:

Applicants must reside in or intend to soon become a resident of the State of New York. Applicants must be admitted to the New York bar.

  1. Juris Doctorate required; least 2 years of legal experience in a government agency preferred;
  2. Masters in Library and Information Science or Business Administration required; one of the following certifications preferred: Certified Records Manager (ICRM); ERM Master (AIIM); ECM Master (AIIM); Project Management Professional (PMI); Certified Privacy Professional (IAPP);
  3. High level of computer literacy with knowledge of Oracle or similar relational database, MS Office, and ability to work with IT systems for day to day operations such as generating reports, queries, managing workflows, etc.;
  4. Prior experience as a Records Manager or Senior Records Supervisor in a law firm or government agency required;
  5. Familiarity with electronic records retention concepts and practices;
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate appropriately verbally and in writing.

Reference Librarian/Social Media Coordinator—New York Law Institute

Job Description:

The New York Law Institute is currently recruiting for a Reference Librarian/Social Media Coordinator.  This critical reference position provides legal, business, and general information services to NYLI’s members using print and electronic resources. The Reference Librarian also participates in website and social media outreach efforts such as regular blogging and tweeting, building an online community on websites such as Facebook and Twitter, etc. as well as tracking sentiment and traffic online.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Executive Director and the Director of Information Technology to support the mission of The New York Law Institute.

Job & Educational Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth legal and non-legal reference and research services using print and electronic resources as well as a proficiency with social media and Web-based technologies. 

  • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-3 years law library experience preferred
  • Knowledge of legal and business research materials
  • Knowledge of various research databases, such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, eBooks, HeinOnline and the Internet 
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with major social media websites.
