Purpose

To create and provide an annual “Bridge the Gap” program for NY area law students. This will prepare them for their summer associate/intern positions.

Responsibilities

Coordinate all aspects of the “Bridge the Gap” Program.

Procedures

The program will take place at a local law school, law firm or other appropriate location. The locale will change each year.

  1. A librarian from the host site should be a member of the Committee. Also, as part of the program, invite the librarians at the host law school, law firm, or institution to participate as faculty members on the program.
  2. Two co-chairs are recommended in order to coordinate the work of the committee, with subcommittees assigned as appropriate to effectively prepare and present the program.
  3. Determine educational content and format of program. Invite participation of speakers as determined by the Committee. Prepare and distribute educational handouts.
  4. Contact the Corporate Sponsorship committee for vendor “freebees” to attendees.
  5. Provide the Board with the budget of proposed expenses for its approval.
  6. Prepare flyers and mailings and present to the Board for its review and approval.
  7. Prepare annual committee report on the program, including participant evaluation summary, for submission to the Board.
