The Law Library Association
of Maryland (L.L.A.M.) is a chapter of the American
Association of Law Libraries. It was established in
1982 to promote library and information services, to develop
and increase the usefulness of law libraries, to cultivate
the science of law librarianship, and to foster a spirit
of cooperation among members of the profession.

Membership is open to any
person interested in law libraries, subject to the approval
of the Membership Committee and the payment of annual dues.

The Association sponsors
monthly educational programs for members. Past programs
have included a discussion of state legislative history
research, a talk with the Chief Judge of the Maryland District
Court, and a forum on vendor-neutral citation formats.
Annual social gatherings are also planned.

Membership includes a quarterly
newsletter, an annual membership directory, and updates
to the "Maryland Periodical Union List" and the "Maryland
County Code Checklist."
