Archives Committee

The purpose of the Archives Committee is to retain materials produced by LLAM, Maryland law libraries, and other library organizations which may be of interest to law librarians. The Committee provides LLAM members with access to these materials in to order provide an organizational history. For more information, contact

Government/Vendor Relations Committee

Monitors legislative, regulatory, judicial and vendor developments that affect LLAM, the practice of law librarianship or the creation and dissemination of information for the libraries in our area.  For more information, contact .

Membership Committee

The annual preparation of the membership directory is the responsibility of this Committee. At the end of the summer, membership forms are posted or e-mailed to both current members and others who have expressed interest in the organization. As the forms are returned, the basic list of dues-paying members is compiled and drawsn into the mailing list and list of voting members. Ultimately, a new directory, giving information both about members and policies of their libraries, is printed and distributed.  For more information, contact .

Newsletter Committee

This Committee is responsible for the publication of the LLAM Newsletter, issued quarterly, detailing recent items of professional interest, as well as Association developments and meetings.  Newsletter archives are available under Publications. For more information, contact LLAMNewsMD@gmail.com.

Placement Committee

The LLAM Placement service is available to all individuals, not only members of LLAM. The placement chair maintains a file of resumes of individuals seeking professional and clerical law library positions. Employers in Maryland contact the placement chairperson when a law library position is available. At that time, copies of all resumes in the placement file are sent to the employer. In addition, a notice of the job vacancy is sent to the LLAM membership. The chairperson keeps statistics on all law library positions in the area which are advertised via the service. For more information, contact .

Program Committee

The Program Committee is responsible for planning the regular monthly programmeetings and other educational activities. Committee members select topics, speakers, locations, and the dates of programs. The Committee also plans social events for December and May.  For more information, contact .

Public Relations Committee

This Committee promotes a better awareness of LLAM and law librarianship to the legal community and the general public. In the past, the Committee has been instrumental in coordinating and planning participation in Law Day and the Maryland State Bar Association convention. Committee members working on these programs handle publicity for all program events, take photographs, and carry out other public relations activities.For more information, contact .

Publications Committee

The Committee generates and publishes the checklist of Maryland County publications, the Maryland union list of periodicals and looseleaf services, and various Association brochures. These publications are updated on a continuing basis. The Committee is always interested in proposals for other projects.  For more information, contact .

Standing Committee on Technology

This committee has been charged with updating the LLAM web page, maintaining the LLAM listserv, and keeping members abreast of new developments in technology. 

Standing Mentor Committee

This committee is responsible for mentoring new members of the profession whether they are in an academic, court, or firm setting. For more information please contact .
