Personal Injury

ABA Tort and Insurance Practice Section

Personal injury researchers visiting the web site of The Tort and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) can view abstracts of articles from two of the Section's publications: The Brief and The Tort and Insurance Law Journal. The Brief is the Section's quarterly magazine and includes an array of practical articles of interest to plaintiff and defense lawyers who practice tort or insurance law. The Tort and Insurance Law Journal is the most widely recognized legal periodical in the field and features in-depth law review articles on insurance litigation, ERISA and employment issues, and reinsurance. Additionally, TortSource, a publication which highlights topical tort and insurance law issues and includes technology advice and practice tips, is available full-text in PDF format.

Tort Law

Cornell University School of Law and the Legal Information Institute provide an overview of tort law and offer links to relevant federal statutes and federal and state judicial decisions. Also provided are links to key Internet sources.

CDC Scientific Data, Surveillance, and Injury Statistics

The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) maintains this web site, working to reduce morbidity, disability, mortality, and costs associated with injuries. Public health information fact sheets are provided on specific injuries. Most importantly, this site is useful for statistically supporting a personal injury case, as the NCIPC has an extensive database of statistics. Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System ("WISQARS") is a powerful, interactive system which provides customized injury-related mortality data as well as access to reports issued by the NCIPC.

Consumer Law Page

This web site published by the law firm of Alexander, Hawes & Audet focuses on personal injury, negligence, and toxic tort law. Although the firm's intention is to attract potential clients, serious content for consumers is provided. Offered on the web site are articles regarding defective products, toxic torts, and serious injuries.

ToxTalk is an electronic mailing list serving as a forum for news, press releases, articles, and posting and replying to questions related to the field of toxic torts litigation.
