Committees are vital to LLOPS.Volunteering to serve on a committee is a great way to meet new people, learn new things, discover hidden talents, and contribute to the vitality of your community. We encourage all LLOPS members to volunteer to serve on a committee as a chair or member.

Articles of Incorporation/Bylaws ~ maintains the text of the Chapter’s bylaws by coordinating proposed and adopted amendments.

Community Outreach (Special Committee)

Employment ~ Assists job seekers with placement; aids firms in placing position announcements on the LLOPS discussion group.

Government Relations ~ monitors pending Washington State legislation, citizen referendums, and judicial review of laws affecting law libraries. Briefs membership on information issues.

Grants ~ fosters professional development by awarding grants for LLOPS or AALL meetings.

Longer Programs ~ 2 per year, 2-3 hours

Marketing ~ actively promotes law libraries and librarianship to the legal and library communities, new LLOPS members, and the general public.

Membership ~ maintains current records of LLOPS members, assists in producing annual membership directory, and sends out chapter information to new members or interested people.

Newsletter ~ produces LLOPScited. Committee chair(s) serves as editor. Members serve as layout editor, reporters and business manager.

Nominations and Elections ~ responsible for nomination and election of chapter officers.

Professional Development Spring ~ plans and presents the annual educational workshop; a project-oriented committee with activity focused in a four-month period.

Professional Development Fall

Program ~ arranges and schedules each LLOPS monthly meeting; develops programs reflecting the interests of the membership; keeps files of past speakers and meeting sites.

U.W. Information School Liaison ~ maintains contact with the UW Information School administration and students; proposes activities to promote law librarianship to library students.
