MALLCO
Collection and Technology Survey
2008 & 2010
The initial inspiration for this survey was the desire by MALLCO library directors to see which print sets their peers were cancelling. From there it grew to include other aspects of our collections and the means we use to make them available to our patrons. The survey was carried out by Susan Goldner, UALR William H. Bowen School of Law, with the generous help of staff at each member library. The survey was repeated in 2010.
The survey results are divided into six worksheets:
Print Major Sets
Lists U.S. primary sources, indicating which libraries have current subscriptions. Italso includes major sets such as citators, digests, encyclopedias and indexes as well as major British and Canadian sets.
Print Other and Miscellaneous
Contains law review practices, loose-leaf/treatise supplementation, monograph purchasing, ABA inspection dates, depository status, and use of book vendors.
Microform Sets
Shows current library subscriptions to major microform sets and to legal newspapers.
Electronic Resources
Lists e-resources and the libraries that license or own them. The intention is to include titles paid for with law library funds, so other funding is indicated as appropriate.
Technology
Indicates the use of library technology, mostly for providing added services to patrons.
Catalog Sets for E-Resources
Shows the libraries that have purchased sets of cataloging that vendors provide for e-resources.
