2012 Officers
MichALL committees are composed of a liaison from the Executive Board, the chairperson, and
individuals who have designated their interest in committee activity on the annual membership
renewal form. If you are interested in getting involved in one of the committees, please contact
the chairperson designated. Our thanks to those who have indicated their willingness to work!
Education Committee
- plan the educational activities of the Association
- propose to the Executive Board any programs, workshops, publications, or
other activities that advance the education of Michigan law librarians
- work with the Vice President in planning the annual meeting program(s)
- Vice President shall chair this committee
Pro Bono Committee
- implement the model plan of the American Association of Law Libraries
- volunteer
librarians will assist attorneys who are doing Pro Bono work
Membership Services
- oversee the compilation, production, and distribution of the MICH/ALL Directory and
to choose the editor of the Directory with the approval of the Executive Board
- work with the
Treasurer in recruiting law librarians and others to join the Association; to identify potential
members whom the Association should contact
- develop mechanisms for reaching potential
members
- oversee the placement activities of the Association
- insure that Association
members are informed of job openings
- assist recent library school graduates and others in
locating jobs in Michigan law libraries
- determine policies regarding any limitations or
requirements related to positions listed or advertised through the Association
- establish a
central clearing house for job vacancy information, such as the appointment of a member of the
committee to fulfill this function
- recommend to the executive Board any policies or requests for funds (as
for advertising in legal newspapers) that require Board action
Public Relations Committee
- publicize the activities of the Association
- explore relations with the State Bar
Association, the Michigan Library Association, the Government Documents Round Table-Michigan, and any other organizations concerned with law or librarianship in Michigan
- recommend to the Executive Board the appointment of representatives to other organizations
where needed
- make to the Executive Board any proposals for enhancing the relationships
between the Association and other organizations or with the public at large
- explore methods
of improving public access to legal information; to recommend to the Executive Board programs,
workshops, and projects that will improve such access
- recommend to the Vice President or
the Education Committee any programs on public access to legal information that might be
incorporated in the Annual meeting(s) of the Association
Nominations Committee
- implement the provisions of Article IX, of the Constitution regarding the nomination
and election of the Association's officers
- propose to the Executive Board any scholarships
- choose the recipients of such scholarships if approved
Newsletter Editor
- selected by the Executive Board
- oversee the production of the Newsletter
- establish editorial policies governing the Newsletter with the approval of the Executive Board
- suggest content, recommend contributors, and generate submissions
