2004 - 2005 Annual Activity Report

SANDALL had a productive year. The SANDALL officers for 2004 - 2005 were Valerie A. Railey, (President), Elizabeth Carroll, (Past President), Judith Lihosit, (Vice President), Ruth Levor (treasurer), & Brian Williams (Secretary). Nanna Frye served as treasurer then resigned. A special election was held. Ruth Levor was elected to serve as treasurer.

The SCALL board provided complimentary registration to the SANDALL & AALL presidents to attend the SCALL Institute. The AALL executive board consider San Diego as a possible site location for the 2010 annual meeting. SANDALL hosted a AALL Chapter visit from Victoria Trotta (Tory) on March 24, 2005. Tory attended the SANDALL Spring Social & silent auction. Tory visited California Western School of Law Library, Morrison & Foerster, and San Diego County Public Law Library. SANDALL held a Founder's Tea on April 15, 2005. At the tea members discussed the history & future of the chapter.

SANDALL held several educational programs which include the following: There was a presentation from a staff attorney from the Innocence Project. That meeting was held on September 15, 2005 at the California Western School of Law. A brown bag program with a presenter from the League of Women Voters was held on October 13, 2005. A Fall Workshop was held on November 4, 2004 entitled " Public Relations Prescription: How to Create Marketing Materials that Never Spend a Day in Design School!" The workshop was taught by graphic designer Mary Craig of the company "Words by Design." www.WordsByDesignOnline.com. SANDALL held a Tsunami Disaster Relief Fundraiser raffle that raised a total of $900.00; proceeds were donated to Oxfam.

SANDALL's Government Relations Committee (GRC) evolved from a task force into a full committee. The GRC sponsored California Legislation SB 1161. Charlie Dyer an active member of the GRC retired. He and SANDALL Past President Elizabeth Carroll were presented distinguished service awards. The Program's Committee completed an informative tri-fold brochure. The Web Internet Committee completed a redesign of the SANDALL website. The SANDALL President was requested & accepted an invitation to participate on an advisory committee to discuss the future publications of the California Code of Regulations. The invitation came from Linda C. Brown, Deputy Director of State of California Office of Administrative Law (OAL), at the recommendation of Mark Linneman - CA state law librarian.
