Board Meeting Minutes
December 12, 2005

PRESENT: Bob Richards, Valerie Railey, Ruth Levor, and Pat Rusheen

LOCATION: Luce Forward Law Firm, 600 West Broadway Suite 2600, San Diego , CA 92101

TIME: 12:15 pm

The meeting was called to order at 12:23 p.m. by Valerie Railey (asked by Ellie to run the meeting in her absence)

Minutes of the 10/19/05 Board Meeting approved.

Treasurer's Report (Ruth Levor)

Treasurer gave her report and provided a copy for the minutes. The treasurer's report was accepted as presented.

Committee and Liaison Reports  

Program Committee (Bob Richards)

• Christmas Party update - 38 registered to date. Bob will call caterers with final numbers this week. Valerie volunteered to help at the door. Bob will send out e-mail reminder to the membership. Valerie will contact Daily Journal about sponsoring the raffle prizes/centerpiece giveaways. Server gratuities were authorized.
  

• Jan. 2006 Brown Bag - still working on nailing down the speaker. Need venue. Pat volunteered to host event at Seltzer Caplan. (Note: Update since board meeting - Event scheduled for Mon., Jan. 23, 2006 at noon to be held at Seltzer Caplan, 750 B Street, Suite 2100 , San Diego , CA. ; speaker will be Salvador Roberto Torres, painter and muralist)
  

• Remaining schedule was discussed; Feb. - Lexis Valentine Lunch, March - Patriot Act @ Thomas Jefferson, March/April Joint Institute in Sacramento, April - Reaching out to our paraprofessional members, topic Google searching @ Morrison & Foerster , May - SLA/SANDALL Joint Event. Plans for spring and/or early summer social during first week of June tentative. It was suggested that we ask the membership if they would like to have a social this year. Annual Business Meeting to be held mid-June.

Old Business

Joint Institute (JI) Update

• AALL will not be sending member for chapter visit because the JI conflicts with the AALL Board Meeting. However, Mary Alice Baish and Tim Coggins will both speak on behalf of the Association.
  
• SANDALL keeping treasury (Ruth Levor)
  
• SANDALL in charge of registration - Carolina Rose will be placing form on website soon (in Jan.). Registration desk at JI will be manned by SANDALL volunteers
  
• Registration fee is not yet finalized.

Grant to SANDALL from Julie Webster-Matthews of LexisNexis

• The Board is grateful and very appreciative of this $1,000 grant and acknowledges receipt of check. The Board will gather further information regarding conditions of grant.

Next Board Meeting scheduled for Jan. 12, 2006 at 12:00 pm at USD Legal Research Center . (Note: Prior to compilation & approval of these minutes the meeting time was changed to 11:30 am)

The board meeting adjourned at 1:50 PM.
