With Los Angeles Education Partnership Lisa Baker: l.baker@mpglaw.com (213) 629-7730 SCALL established the Inner City Youth Internship Program
in 1992. Our mission is to offer employment opportunities to qualified inner
city high school students in private, public and academic libraries as well as
other related institutions. Our program intends that by participating in these
work environments, our interns will gain more familiarity with the profession of
law as well as useful work experience. We want to further these students' career
aspirations and to encourage them to achieve all that they can.

“ All of my SCALL interns have been wonderful and I've hired most of them as part time clerks after the internships ended. What I would really like to emphasize is the pleasure you get from mentoring a high school student, then seeing what s/he does after graduating from school."Donnela
Johnson
“ This was our second year participating in this program. Thank you for the most rewarding experience."Elisabeth
A. Lamartine
“I certainly think that the Program is wonderful, well organized, great pre-training with the Interns. A big BRAVO, it is wonderful, to give these youngsters an opportunity to be exposed to the business world.” Monique Merrill “Serving on the Inner City Youth Committee from the beginning has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career. I feel that I’m giving back to the community, and doing something truly worthwhile. Twice I’ve had interns in my library, and I could tell that the program really made a difference to them. I recommend to anyone who wants to get involved to do it; it will make a difference in your life.” Jan Goldsmith “I would definitely recommend SCALL ICYIP to all junior and seniors. I feel that it’s a great opportunity to begin to develop a working background. Plus, if they are interested in law, this program will help them to learn new aspects of the career.” Marcelino Francisco-Juarez “The Program provides excellent jobs to people just entering the workforce or those who have a few jobs under their belts.” Song Ping Seto
