A large multi-office law firm is seeking an experienced, service-oriented individual to fill and help develop the newly created position of Business Intelligence Analyst. The position reports to the Manager, Research Services and works as part of a larger team serving lawyers and administrative staff in offices located throughout the U.S.

The location is flexible, with a preference for the western United States. Regardless of location, general availability between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time as well as some flexibility in hours is essential.

Major areas of responsibility include:

• Performing high-level research and analysis related to business development and competitive and strategic research matters, reporting the results with visual representation/aids, as needed;
• Monitoring and communicating developments in the legal industry that have an impact on firm business and on the department;
• Supporting the development of business intelligence services by assisting with the development of templates and other best practices, the evaluation and selection of resources, and the collection and reporting of metrics; and
• Serving as the department research expert in matters pertaining to companies, markets and industries.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s in Library Science from an ALA accredited school or equivalent degree and experience; two plus years providing competitor, market and industry research in a corporate or law firm environment, with law firm experience strongly preferred; and strong critical thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze large amounts of information, identify trends and other important information and synthesize how this information affects business decisions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also a must.
