
| Acquisition and Serials Control Librarian, California Western School of Law, San Diego California Western School of Law is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Acquisition and Serials Control Librarian. Responsibilities for this position include: ordering, receipt, and binding of all Library materials; implementing a recently acquired ERM system; drafting and implementing acquisitions policies and procedures; maintaining communication with faculty, the Library staff, and vendors concerning relevant acquisition issues; and acting as liaison with the business office about Library expenditures. The candidate must be able to supervise and manage all aspects of acquisitions, electronic record management, and serials and bindery control, including pre-order searching, preparation of purchase orders, invoice processing, and record maintenance. The candidate must have the ability to evaluate resources in print, electronic, and other formats as to their appropriateness for the Library’s collection. The candidate must also possess the ability to recommend items for purchase, considering all relevant factors, including the Library’s Collection Development Policy, differences among formats, and costs of purchase and upkeep. The person in this role must be knowledgeable about the acquisition and management of a diverse collection of legal treatises and continuations, and have the ability to use an automated library system and have an awareness of current trends in law library technical services. The candidate should be self-motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate a strong service orientation and have the ability to work in a team environment. Qualifications for this position are a Masters degree in library or information science from an accredited library school.
