You’re Invited ….
SEAALL 2004 ANNUAL MEETING |
|
Come experience Virginia with your law
librarian colleagues in March 2004.
The SEAALL Executive Board, the Program Committee, and the Local
Arrangements Committee cordially invite you to join us in Richmond,
Virginia, Thursday, March 25 – Saturday, March 27, 2004, for our 2004
Annual Meeting, “Virginia Is For Law Librarians.”
The Program Committee will
present a diverse selection of educational programs. Begin your education on Thursday,
March 25 with “The Basics of Negotiating,” featuring Professor John
Douglass, a nationally recognized negotiation and mediation speaker. The
keynote address at the Annual Meeting will be delivered by Richmond
attorney David Baugh. Some of
you remember Mr. Baugh’s stirring presentation about the sanctity of the
U. S. Constitution at the 1999 AALL Annual Meeting. We promise you an equally
thought-provoking keynote address about the Bill of Rights under
attack. Other programs at the
Annual Meeting will focus on issues facing law librarians, covering topics
such as managing staff and libraries effectively, site licenses,
cataloging, academic freedom, research in bankruptcy and securities law,
First Amendment issues, and much, much more. Richmond is a great city, and
the Local Arrangements Committee has planned exciting events to showcase
the City. The views of
Richmond and the James River at the Thursday night reception will be
exceptional. After the
reception you will be within walking distance of many of Richmond’s finest
restaurants in the “Shockoe Slip” and “Shockoe Bottom” sections of
downtown. For those dancers
and night owls in the group, great bands and dancing can be found at the
nightclubs and bars in the Bottom.
On Friday evening, SEAALL will return to the Virginia Museum of
Fine Arts for a reception and dinner. There will be some time to view the
VMFA collection prior to dinner in the Museum’s Marble Hall. For those of you staying until
Sunday, we encourage you to take advantage of a Saturday afternoon
excursion to Jamestown.
Participation is limited, so register early to save your place for
this excursion.
We are very excited about the
2004 SEAALL Annual Meeting, and we encourage you to attend. Plan now to be among the law
librarians enjoying “Virginia Is For Law
Librarians” in March. Nancy Johnson
