*** Please Sign Petitions! ***
The Southern New England Law Librarians Association (SNELLA) and the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) are partnering with local Connecticut bar associations and others to mount a petition drive to save five out of the six courthouse law libraries slated by the Judicial Branch to be closed this year: Bridgeport, Hartford, Norwich, Milford, Litchfield and Willimantic. There is no petition to save the Willimantic Courthouse library because the courthouse is likely being closed, and there is no staff overseeing a very small collection.
SNELLA, AALL and the local bars believe strongly that closing these five Courthouse libraries will adversely affect pro se litigants, the Connecticut legal community and the clients they serve. Please help our efforts -- please pass these petitions along to friends, family and co-workers who may feel strongly about this issue.
The petitions are open to all residents of Connecticut, so please help spread the word so that our efforts are successful in quickly getting as many signatures as possible to keep these public law libraries open and staffed.
Please be sure to sign all petitions, as they are not the same.
