TRANSCRIPT
Minutes
of SWALL Annual Business Meeting
Atlanta
July 13, 2000 – April 9, 2001
President
Mark Estes called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. April 20, 2001 at
the Sheraton Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.
The minutes
of the July 17, 2000 Business Meeting in Philadelphia were approved.
Finance
– Susan Phillips by Anna Teller
Because
this is a joint meeting with SEAALL, the accounts are not reconciled
until later. We currently have $19,268.46 in the Coco-Miller account
and $20,128.51 in the checking account for a total of $39,396.97.
Grants
– Anna Teller
Two applications
were received and two grants awarded. The Kate Mara grant was awarded
to Ava Hicks, Arkansas Supreme Court Library and the Coco-Miller grant
went to Carol Arnold from the University of Tulsa. Two $750 grants
are available to attend the AALL meeting in Minneapolis.
Membership
Five
new members were recognized.
Location
of Annual Meetings
The 2002
meeting will be in Fort Worth, Texas from Thursday, April 18 to Saturday,
April 20, 2002 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in downtown Fort Worth.
Susan Phillips, Anna Teller and four others are doing the local arrangements.
2003
was scheduled for Little Rock, but because of their ABA inspection,
they are postponing until 2004 or 2005. We are thinking of New Orleans
and looking for volunteers. Mon Yin volunteered to look into hotel
availability in Kansas City and Anna Teller is going to explore New
Orleans.
2004.
The membership seemed pretty set on keeping the Texas every other
year structure and thus finding a site in Texas for 2004. San Antonio
and Houston were discussed as possibilities, though, San Antonio doesn’t
seem great because of the AALL meeting there. A lot of people did,
though, express interest in Albuquerque.
2005
- Little Rock
Atlanta
Meeting - Rhea Ballard
There
are 275 SEAALL-SWALL attendees, 36 vendor donors and 20 vendor booths
at the meeting. The hotel has not yet provided firm numbers, however,
a profit is anticipated.
Minneapolis
– Mark Estes
The group
was in favor of once again holding a joint multi chapter (SWALL, HALL,
DALL) cocktail reception with a quick business meeting in lieu of
a lunch or breakfast meeting.
Nominations
- Sharon Blackburn
The slate
of officers was presented and unanimously approved. Elected are Beth
Youngdale for President, Kathryn Fitzhugh for Vice President/President-Elect,
Susan Spillman for Secretary, and Joan O’Mara for Treasurer.
Additional
Announcements
Thanks
was given to Mark Estes for stepping in to be president and to David
Gay for continuing to help.
Beth
will post committee preference sheets on the web sit.
Mark
turned the leadership over to Beth and she presented him with a plaque.
Meeting
adjourned at 8:30 a.m.
Respectfully
Submitted,
