NEWS FROM VINSON & ELKINS IN HOUSTON

It is with some regret that I announce that I will be leaving Houston, after 24.75 years with Vinson & Elkins, to take a new job with the law firm of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, in Cleveland, OH. I will be Squire's Director of Practice Resources, which will encompass their Library, Records, Conflicts and a new department called Knowledge Management. 

My last day at V&E is December 14th and my last day in Houston will be December 28th. I will be back some as my wife will be wrapping up her practice of law before joining me in Cleveland, probably in March.

The good news is that Susan Yancey has agreed to an offer to be the new Director of Libraries here at Vinson & Elkins. As many of you will know, Susan left law libraries to be an information entrepreneur a few years ago, with Infoscope, and most recently has been with the consulting firm of McKinsey & Co. in their Petroleum analysis group. Vinson & Elkins, LLP has never been slow on its feet but I was amazed by the swiftness with which the partners who interviewed Susan agreed that she was an excellent choice and also the speed with which our Executive Director offered her the job.

Please join me in welcoming Susan to her new responsibilities back in our law library community.
