This annual joint chapter reception is made possible through the generous contribution of Jones McClure Publishing, Inc. represented by Dina Dreifurst, Librarian Relations Manager.
Special thanks to Barbara Fullerton, Mon Yin Lung, Katherine Greene, and H. Kumar Percy for leading SWALL into the new millennium with our online membership renewal form. YEA!!! Don’t forget its membership renewal time. Associate Professor AWARDS FOR SWALL CHAPTER MEMBERS During the annual meeting in San Antonio AALL will bestow major awards upon some of SWALL's most distinguished members. Heartfelt congratulations to Professor Roy Mersky, Harry M. Reasoner Regents Chair in Law and Director of Research at the Jamail Center for Legal Research, Tarlton Law Library, University of Texas at Austin is one of the 2005 recipients of the Marian Gould Gallagher Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award was established in 1984 to recognize extended and sustained service to law librarianship, for the exemplary service to the Association, or for contributions to the professional literature. Professor Mersky’s career in law librarianship demonstrates that he is more than deserving of this honor. It is so fitting that he will receive the award in Texas at the AALL Opening Luncheon on Monday, July 19, 2005.
Special congratulations to Barbara A. Bintliff, Nicholas Rosenbaum Professor of Law and Director of the Law Library at the University of Colorado Law Library, who will receive the Frederick Charles Hicks Award for Outstanding Contributions to Academic Law Librarians. The Hicks Award recognizes an individual or group who has made outstanding contributions to academic law librarianship through continued efforts to improve law librarianship. The award is named in honor of Frederick Charles Hicks, the first great American law librarian/scholar who was also the first academic law librarian to serve as president of AALL. The award will be presented to Barbara at the Academic Law Libraries SIS Reception at St. Mary’s University School of Law. Another award recipient from SWALL is Leah Sandwell-Weiss, Reference Librarian & Adjunct Asst. Prof. of Legal Research at the University of Arizona College of Law. Leah was awarded the AALL Spectrum Article of the Year Award for her article - "A Look at the USA PATRIOT Act Today." This article was published in the AALL Spectrum in July 2004. The AALL Spectrum Article of the Year Award honors outstanding achievement
