2009 SWALL Annual Meeting
The Albuquerque International Sunport is a fairly stress-free airport. It has just over twenty gates and three levels:
o Level 3 – Arrival/departure gates and TSA checkpoint
o Level 2 – Ticketing
o Level 1- Ground transportation and baggage claim (as you get off the escalators, look for the video monitor to indicate the baggage carousel on which your luggage will arrive)
Ground Transportation to the Hotel Albuquerque (arrivals after 10pm will require a taxi)
Reservations can be made through their website or by phone (866) 505-4966, but are not required. The Sunport Shuttle desk is located across from baggage carousel 3. One-way fare to the Hotel Albuquerque or the Best Western Rio Grande is $15 and round trip is $28.
Taxis are located just outside the baggage claim area. A one-way fare will be less than $30.
Free shuttle buses to the airport's car rental service facility are located just outside baggage claim and run every five minutes.
Bus service is provided by ABQ Ride Bus Service. Route 50 or Rapid Ride Route 350 runs from the Albuquerque International Sunport to the downtown Alvarado Transportation Center (ATC). Travel time to the Alvarado Transportation Center is 20 minutes.
To reach the hotel, transfer to Route 66 or Rapid Ride Route 766 which go from the ATC downtown to Old Town (Rio Grande and Central); transfers are free. The hotel is several blocks north on Rio Grande.
See the ABQ web site for fare details and current schedules. Note that weekend service is somewhat limited.
The Rail Runner Express downtown station is located at the Alvarado Transportation Center. See web site for details and current schedules. Try catching the train for a day trip to Santa Fe!
