Guides to Government Operations

Updated May 2005.

Government guides can vary widely from state to state. Some have answers to frequently asked questions. Others provide an overview of the state. State telephone directories or employee locators are not considered in this category.

Wisconsin Blue Book, http://www.legis.state.wi.us/lrb/bb/index.html

This is the full text of a comprehensive almanac of Wisconsin State Government. It is the latest in the biennial series. The 1997-99 edition is also available.

The Blue Book contains information about the structure of the Wisconsin State Government, statistical information, and biographical information about legislators, the governor and other state officials. The feature article is "Ten Events That Shaped Wisconsin's History."

The volume is published in the Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). The entire document is over 1000 pages, with .There are 37 segments of approximately 50 pages to simplify viewing and facilitate access.

Access points are the table of contents and the index, as would be available in a paper version.

The Blue Book is two clicks away from the state homepage, linking from the subject index, the legislature page or About Wisconsin. Because it is essentially a book, it will not be updated until the next edition is published. However, much of the information will remain valid until that time.
