Publishing Management Changes
May 26, 2000
Dear
Customer:
I’m
very pleased to bring you up to date on our recent management changes.
At LEXIS-NEXIS, we’ve simplified our operating structure and created a
new management team that will improve our ability to continue delivering
industry-leading products.
Lou
Andreozzi, former president and chief executive officer of Martindale
Hubbell in New Providence, N.J., has been named president and chief executive
officer of LEXIS, the legal publishing unit of LEXIS-NEXIS. Bill Pardue
has assumed the title of president and chief executive officer of NEXIS.
Lou
began his career with Reed Elsevier in 1983. He was a key member of the
transition team which completed the LEXIS-NEXIS acquisition in 1994, and
assumed the role of vice president and general counsel of LEXIS-NEXIS
upon the completion of the transaction. Since 1996 he has led Martindale-Hubbell.
Lou received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law and
his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University.
As
we’ve created our new structure, there have been a number of related LEXIS
organizational transitions. Let me mention a few that involve our relationships
with you.
- I now
report to Lou as senior vice president of Marketing and Strategic Business
Development. I’m responsible for customer relations (including Librarian
Relations), business development, pricing, marketing and corporate communications.
Before rejoining LEXIS, I was senior vice president of sales and customer
relations for Martindale-Hubbell. My previous experience includes serving
as president of The Michie Company, vice president of marketing for
LEXIS Legal Information Services and nine years with Shepard’s. I have
a bachelor’s degree in film and television production from Montana State
University, a master’s in telecommunications and a doctorate in mass
media from Michigan State University.
- Holley
Thompson, who has served as senior director of Librarian Relations since
1994, has been promoted to vice president on our Internet strategy team.
We are pleased that Holley will continue to represent the perspective
of information professionals in her new position. She will also act
as a senior advisor to LEXIS for relationships.
- The LEXIS
Publishing Librarian Relations Group remains a strong and valued team
for the company and our customers. The group now reports jointly to
Cindy Spohr and Judy Floyd Evans. I have immense confidence in their
continued abilities to serve your needs as information professionals.
Your regional information manager will continue to support you on a
local level. You may also visit our information professional website,
http://infopro.lexis.com, for
additional information on the Librarian Relations Group and the company.
For specific questions or concerns, please contact Cindy, cindy.spohr@lexis-nexis.com
or Judy, judy.floyd@lexis-nexis.com.
- Paul Brown
has returned to London as vice president of Strategy for Reed Elsevier’s
new worldwide legal segment. We are pleased that Paul will be playing
a significant role in our legal strategy and appreciate all of his contributions
to LEXIS during his tenure with us.
I greatly
appreciate—and respect—the significant role played by information professionals
in shaping our products and services. LEXIS today offers better, stronger,
more comprehensive products in large part because of the recommendations
and counsel law librarians have provided. We greatly rely on and value
this interaction.
LEXIS has
powerful brands, deep industry knowledge, exciting technology and a terrific
team of people—all of which will be enhanced through an additional significant
investment in new product development that Reed Elsevier has earmarked
for the legal segment. It is for this reason that I am genuinely excited
about my new role with the company and our new structure overall. Thank
you for your support.
Very best
regards,
Larry
D. Thompson, Ph.D.

Vice President
