Publisher Communication Subcommittee

CRIV's Publisher Communication Subcommittee was formed to assist AALL members in resolving disputes with vendors. This is done through a formal complaint process. CRIV has worked to establish contacts with most publishers for this purpose. For the convenience of our members, CRIV has developed a set of sample letters to vendors that can be used and modified when trying to resolve a problem in your library. You can link to these sample letters via CRIVTools.

AALL members may file a formal request for CRIV assistance. The form is provided here and may be sent electronically or through regular mail. Complainants will be expected to have made a reasonable effort to resolve the problem by contacting the vendor in writing and by phone. CRIV recommends that librarians in charge of resolving vendor issues for their library keep a Publisher Log in order to have a detailed record of each transaction.

The request form should be accompanied by documentation of correspondence and conversations with the vendor. Questions about vendor communication may be addressed to:
