Services Provided to the Courts by the Law Library
- Order and receive court
legal reference materials, and maintain a database of
the materials held by the courts.
- Deliver material to chambers and
remove outdated material.
- Deliver legal newspapers and magazines
(Daily Recorder, S.F. and L.A. Daily Journals, National Law
Journal) to mailboxes each weekday.
Services Provided
to the Courts by Other Departments
- Moving bookcases and
other furniture, and shifting books and papers,
either within a chamber, or from one chamber to
another: call the Judicial Services Officer who
can coordinate moves with Court Facilities, and
the library will work with Facilities if books are
involved.
- Ordering and delivering non-law
related books (e.g. Webster’s dictionaries, user manuals,
etc.): call Purchasing
- Legal research questions: call
the Legal Research department
- Providing access to electronic legal information,
such as CD-ROM or the Internet: for computer problems, call Courts MIS; for access
passwords, contact the Judicial Services Officer.
- General issues or questions: call the Judicial Services
Officer.
Other Services
Available from the Law Library
If
you should need an article, book, or case not available in your
collection or from a shared library, we may be able to provide
it from our collection. The library reference desk number is 874-6012.
For the Branch library, call 875-3490. Please send court staff
to pick up or copy requested items. Our staff size prohibits us
from providing a delivery service for library materials. Materials
can be returned to the Law Library box in the downtown courthouse
mailroom, via inter-office mail (to mail code 115-01), or to the
library’s book drop on H Street near Sixth Street.
