This year's Annual Meeting and Conference will introduce the Monday Morning Recharge, a mid-conference boost packed with opportunities to rethink the value you bring, with a focus on business skills. You'll be able to choose from a variety of sessions led by outside experts and designed to add tools to your professional arsenal. These sessions, scheduled from 10-11:30 a.m., will be complemented by a number of
Exhibit Hall activities, including a breakfast break and a buffet lunch.
Why Change Stalls and What You Can Do About It
Managing large-scale change is like operating a complex machine. There are multiple control levers and dials to watch. Hit the right levers at the right time, and watch the right dials to see how you are doing, and the change has a better chance of success. There are many facets to consider: continuous improvement versus large-scale, breakthrough change; the best ways to communicate it; buy-in from others; how long it will take. This session will help leaders and employees understand what causes change in organizations to stall or fail, and identify steps they can take to help their organization bring about positive and lasting change.

Own the Room: Presentations that Captivate and Win Over Any Audience
At some point, we are all called upon to make a presentation. If you’re investing time and energy in a message you need to communicate, you can’t afford to miss the mark with an ineffective delivery. Luckily, great presenters are made, not born. Anyone can confidently engage and persuade others by understanding what audiences truly want and the way adults process information. This dynamic program combines the time-tested wisdom of the Greek philosophers with the latest insights from today’s leading storytellers: Madison Avenue and Hollywood. By incorporating the latest psychological research on attention span, participants will learn proven techniques that work equally well in law firm, academic, government, and other law library settings. When all of these factors are taken into account and applied correctly, you can connect with audiences so that they listen more, retain more, and are more likely to act upon your recommendations.

The Look of Leadership Today: What It Is – and What It Isn’t
Today’s workplace can be challenging. The world is smaller, impacts are more profound, decisions (or lack thereof) have more serious consequences, stress is the norm, and uncertainty is rampant. And yet, there are those who – despite having great responsibilities – still can’t wait to get to work. Why? They are leaders who know they make a difference every day.
In one way or another, true leaders spend most of their day shaping other leaders. This session will change the way you view leadership and inspire you to adapt this new ideology to your job today, regardless of your current position. Examine the old myths and the new truths; what works, what doesn’t, and why. Discover why true leadership is no longer reserved for the rarified few at the top.

Increasing Your Influence
Where there is no formal authority, clients, customers and co-workers are more likely to follow and be influenced by those with whom they have a relationship built upon “perceived” trust. Perception is the key, because regardless of how trustable a person is, if another does not perceive trust and credibility, then influence and leadership will be compromised. Through facilitated discussion and examples from familiar professional situations, participants will discover they are attempting to influence in just about every aspect of their job. This exploration will demonstrate that influence and leadership (and, consequently, increased client satisfaction and success) rely upon an investment in building relationships and the perception of trust.

De-stress Your Life by Finding Balance in a Hectic World
Stressors are everywhere around us, but how we deal with them determines their effect on our body and mind. In this interactive workshop, participants will develop skills for achieving balance within the body and mind to deal with everyday stress. After examining the stressors we are exposed to everyday, learn what we can do to control the stress – instead of letting stress control us. Participants will learn different techniques for finding equilibrium in a hectic world including simple meditations, “desk yoga,” and basic nutrition.
