It was an early, invigorating Sunday morning for AALL attendees. The Opening General Session featured keynote speaker Richard Susskind, who presented "Tomorrow’s Legal Marketplace." An author, speaker, and independent adviser to major professional firms, in-house legal departments, and national governments, Susskind helped attendees understand the role lawyers and legal information professionals will play in an IT-based information society of the future. Thanks to AALL’s Gold Sponsors, Bloomberg Law/BNA, LexisNexis, and Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, for their support of this inspiring session.
After the keynote, educational sessions gave attendees the opportunity to learn about trending topics, such as usage statistics for online resources, the next generation of legal databases, and launching into RDA. The evening hours were filled with more committee meetings and receptions. Some lucky attendees got a twilight tour of Salem, where they saw the famous House of Seven Gables and the Witch House.
All in all, it was a great day of education, networking, and refueling the passion for law librarianship.
