Daily Recap from Seattle for Sunday, July 14

Sunday morning was early and invigorating for AALL attendees. The Opening General Session featured keynote speaker David Weinberger who presented "Libraries as Platforms." A philosophy professor, a gag writer for Woody Allen's comic strip, a humor columnist, a dot-com entrepreneur, and a strategic marketing consultant to household-name multinationals and the most innovative startups, Weinberger helped attendees understand that by restructuring their libraries to be more like networks through the creation of platforms for knowledge and discovery, librarians will enable their users to get at every drop of value in the library. Thanks to AALL's Gold Sponsors, Bloomberg Law/BNA, LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters, and Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, for their support of this inspiring session.

After the keynote, educational sessions gave attendees the opportunity to learn about trending topics, such as rethinking cost-effective legal research instruction, using social media in your library, and releasing your inner writer. Some attendees went on a walking tour to experience the unique sights, scents and sounds of Seattle. The evening hours were filled with more committee meetings and receptions.

All in all, it was a great day of education, networking, and refueling the passion for law librarianship.
