Welcome to the Brandywine Valley

The Brandywine Valley flows through parts of Chester and Delaware Counties in Pennsylvania and New Castle County in Delaware, joining the Delaware River in the city of Wilmington, DE. Throughout the Brandywine Valley numerous historical, cultural, and scenic attractions can be found. The legacy of the duPont Family and the company they founded can be seen at Longwood Gardens, Winterthur Museum and Gardens, the Nemours Mansion and Gardens, and Hagley Museum. The art of the Wyeths and other local artists may be enjoyed at the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, PA, and the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, DE. The Brandywine Battlefield in Chadds Ford, the Chester County Historical Society in West Chester, PA, and the George Read II House and the surrounding town of Old New Castle, DE, are just a few of the sites which offer glimpses into the rich history of the area. Modern Valley businesses offering tours include QVC Studios in West Chester and Chadds Ford Winery in Chadds Ford. The River itself may best be experienced in a canoe or on a tube, drifting lazily along with the current on a warm summer day.
