There are many things to see and do that are free or very inexpensive. Here are a few that are worth visiting.

Start your visit with a bus tour of Philadelphia on the PhillyPHLASH - Philadelphia's Downtown Visitor Shuttle. For only $3 per day, you can ride to all the major tourist attractions from 10 a.m. to midnight on a purple bus. The buses run every ten minutes. It also entitles you to a special discount on the RiverLink Ferry and to the NJ State Aquarium. Children under 6 ride free. Tickets are available at many hotels, attractions, and upon boarding the bus.

City Hall Tour - FREE - City Hall is located in the center of Philadelphia. You can't miss it - Billy Penn is on the top. Volunteer guides from the Foundation for Architecture conduct tours Monday to Friday at 12:30 P.M. There are also tours of the tower that run every 15 minutes between 9:30 A.M. and 4:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. The tours start at the tour office in room 121.

Liberty Bell Pavilion - FREE - Located on Market Street between 5th and 6th Streets in the historic district. Talks about the Liberty Bell are presented continuously throughout the day.

Elfreth's Alley Museum, 126 Elfreth's Alley (between Arch & Race Streets) - FREE - The oldest continuously occupied street in the United States. Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday- Saturday, noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

Fireman's Hall Museum located at 127 N. 2nd Street - FREE - America's first fire company is home to 12 antique fire engines. Open Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

CityPass - Visit six famous attractions at one low price. CityPass is on sale at the main entrance of any of the six attractions. It is good for nine days from the date you first use it. Included are The Academy of Natural Sciences, The Franklin Institute Science Museum, Independence Seaport Museum, New Jersey State Aquarium & Camden Children's Garden, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Zoo. $ 27.50 for Adults, $23.75 for Seniors, Youth (ages 3-11) $20. Children age 2 and under are free.

Eastern State Penitentiary is located at 22nd & Fairmount Streets. Children under 5 are not permitted. At this national historic landmark you can tour the cellblocks, central rotunda, death row, and art exhibitions of the abandoned penitentiary that once housed America's most notorious criminals. In July open Wednesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the last tour leaves at 4 p.m. Admission is $7 for Adults, $5 for Students, $3 for Children age 5-17.

Mutter Museum of College of Physicians of Philadelphia , 19 South 22nd Street, This Medical museum contains anatomical and pathological specimens from the last 100 years of medicine. Open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sundays 12 noon to 4 p.m. Special admission coupons are available on the web site. General Admission $8 for Adults, $4 for Children 6-18, Free under 6.
