Orlando and Central Florida - VIRTUAL TOUR Kennedy Space Center and Shuttle: Located just 30 minutes east of Orlando and encompassing over 6,000 acres of Brevard County coastline, the Kennedy Space Center complex is not to be missed. Explore restricted areas near the shuttle launch pads, tour the cavernous VAB (Vertical Assembly Building), and actually observe parts of the International Space Station being readied for launch. See the Saturn V rocket "up close and personal," and experience IMAX films shot in space by our astronauts. Plan to spend an entire day at KSC (one of the featured AALL Program Excursions on Thursday, July 25th). Visit the online Visitor's Information Center for some "pre-flight" data before your actual visit, and learn about the history of the Cape Canaveral and KSC. While no launches are planned during mid-July 2002, the KSC launch schedule is subject to change, so check online before leaving home.
