Hot Hints from Boston's Best

6/28/04: Plan Ahead!

For all of you attending the AALL Meeting in Boston, watch for a series of emails here on Law-lib, with the subject “Hot Hints from Boston’s Best”.  Starting today, watch daily for a new set of hints, including places recommended by LLNE (Law Librarians of New England) members, special events, and more!

To get in the mood for your Boston visit, check out Books Set in Boston and Movies Set in Boston for two short but fun guides to Boston as seen in books or by Hollywood.

Go to the Local Arrangements website at where you can find guides on all the best Boston has to offer.  All guides have been updated with the most current information on what to do and see while you are in Boston.  All longer guides have a “printer friendly” version, so print those most useful to you.  We suggest that you start with the Planning Ahead guide for tips and tricks about visiting Boston.

6/29/04: Diners' Delight

Bostonians love to eat and there are dozens of great restaurants within walking distance of the convention center.  Recommendations from LLNE members are available on the site. See also our comprehensive annotated Restaurant Guide.

Also, don’t forget to sign up for a Dine Around to get an introduction to some of Boston’s Best restaurants, while getting to meet other colleagues from around the country.  The deadline for online signups is July 2!

6/30/04: Sensational Shopping

From Newbury Street to Downtown Crossing to Cambridge, there are plenty of shopping opportunities not to be missed.  Some of our LLNE members have recommended various places where they shop til they drop!  You can also check out our extensive Shopping Guide full of ideas for any imaginable shopping need.

7/1/04: Family Fun

Boston offers a great variety of family friendly activities near the convention center or a short train ride away. For an annotated listing of activities go to our Guide to Boston for Families and Kids where you can find tours, activities/dining/shopping by neighborhood, and great tips for families visiting Boston.

7/2/04: Entertainment

Whether you like arts, music, the great outdoors, or the nightlife, many wonderful opportunities for fun exist near the convention center or close by.  LLNE members recommend several music, art, and entertainment events taking place just before or during the conference. Art and music lovers can find a more extensive guide to Arts & Music in Boston and Beyond.  If the club scene is what you crave, check out Boston Nightlife for links to events at bars, clubs, and more.  For your lunch time walk or some R&R, our Outdoor Fun guide will tell you all about great places to sit and enjoy a breath of fresh air.

7/6/04: Books, Law, Libraries, and Music

The Association Luncheon will benefit ReadBoston, a local organization that provides books to needy children.   If you need to find a local bookstore to pick up a donation and some excellent reading for yourself, take a look at our selective listing of Bookstores In and Near Boston, organized to maximize your browsing time.

The Local Advisory website contains an annotated listing of Boston Area Libraries Open to AALL Visitors, including excellent directions.

Looking for vinyl or perhaps the latest CD by your favorite group? Then, check out Music Stores In and Around Boston, our annotated listing of stores.

Finally, see Edward J. Bander's The Path of the Law for information about a wonderful walking tour highlighting Boston legal history.

7/7/04: Have a Good Trip!

We hope that you have enjoyed our Hot Hints.  Here is some information to help you begin your stay in Boston as smoothly as possible:

The Hospitality Desk will be staffed by many wonderful volunteers who know their way around Boston.  We would love to chat with you!
