Internet Access Near the Convention Center & Park Plaza Hotel

If you are looking for Internet access outside of the hours of the Exhibit Hall, there are a few alternatives. An interactive map of Boston shows the Convention Center and shows the streets and other reference points mentioned here. You can also view a PDF map of the convention center outlining all floors.

NOTE: Massachusetts uses 10 digit dialing. All phone numbers are in the 617 area code unless otherwise stated.

Wireless Access

Hynes Convention Center (free)

Wireless network access is provided in the Coffee Shop and Lounge areas on the first level. Note that the convention center says that the connection is somewhat slow.

Hynes Convention Center (fee)

The Convention Center offers access throughout the entire facility for $25/day or $100 for the duration of the AALL meeting.

NewburyOpen.net (free)

Offers wireless network access at many businesses along Newbury Street near the Convention Center. The location closest to the convention center is The Wrap located at the Berklee School of Music, 137 Massachusetts Ave (near the end of Boylston Street). The location closest to the Park Plaza Hotel is The Copley Society of Art at 158 Newbury Street (between Dartmouth and Exeter streets).

The BPL offers wireless access throughout its Copley Square location. The link provides information on how to configure your laptop for use with the BPL's wireless network.

Starbucks (fee)

Stores along Boylston Street and Newbury Street offer wireless access via the T-Mobile Hotspot Service. The location closest to the convention center is 350 Newbury Street (between Hereford Street and Massachusetts Avenue). The location closest to the Park Plaza Hotel is 443 Boylston Street, near the intersection with Berkeley Street.

Wireless access via the T-Mobile Hotspot Service at both locations. The Dartmouth Street location is 3 blocks from the Park Plaza, the Tremont Street location is about 5 blocks from the Park Plaza.

The library has several public access terminals for 15 minute access to the Internet. Walk in through the front door, go past the elevators to reach these terminals. Note that there is often a long wait.

Computers with Internet access at a rate of $5/hour or $3 for 15 minutes. You may also plug in your own laptop at the same rates.

Both locations have computers with Internet access at 20 cents/minute. The Tremont Street location also provides a station where laptop users without wired access can plug in to the T3 network at $6 per hour.

The Dartmouth Street location is 3 blocks from the Park Plaza, the Tremont Street location is about 5 blocks from the Park Plaza.
