The trustworthiness of online legal resources is inherently a
matter of great concern to the legal community. Electronic documents
pose a special challenge to the verification of their authenticity
because they can be altered, which could lead to unauthorized versions
of government content. AALL has undertaken a leadership role on the
topic of authentic legal information in the digital age.
AALL is also leading efforts to ensure authentication,
preservation and permanent public access to digital legal information at
the state level. For information, including AALL’s state-by-state reports on authentication of online legal resources and the Uniform Electronic Legal Material Act, please see State Issues.
