AALL Annual Meeting Chapter VIP Program

The AALL Annual Meeting Chapter VIP Program presents an opportunity for your Chapter to invite special guests from your area's legal, governmental or information communities to receive a complimentary full registration to the AALL Annual Meeting. Please consider participating in this program. Once you have identified a VIP and confirmed that they can attend, complete the Chapter VIP Information Form and submit to Kim Rundle by May 17th.

The AALL Executive Board recently created an Annual Meeting VIP Program Reassessment Task Force whose purpose is to assess and update the Annual Meeting VIP programs (SIS, Chapter, and AALL) to ensure their effectiveness in promoting the value of law librarians. If your Chapter has participated in the VIP Program, your Chapter President will be receiving a link to a survey to provide the Task Force with some information about your experience.

Roster Updates

Has your Chapter held an election lately? Sworn in new officers? Please let me know if you have any changes or additions to your Chapter roster. You will want to make sure that your Chapter leadership is getting all the news at this busy time of year. Just send the information (names, titles, and e-mail addresses) to me (hriccio@omm.com) and I will make sure both your Chapter roster on AALLNET is updated and that the appropriate names get added to the Chapter listserv.

Annual Meeting Leadership Training and Luncheon

Incoming Chapter Presidents and Vice Presidents are invited to attend the Leadership Training at the Annual Meeting in Seattle on Saturday, July 13th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the Leadership Luncheon from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Invitations for these two events have already been sent to each incoming Chapter President so that both they and their incoming Chapter Vice Presidents can RSVP to attend if they will be in Seattle this year. Although the official deadline has passed, if your Chapter's incoming President and/or Vice President plans on attending this event, please complete the attached form and submit it to leadership@aall.org.

Annual Meeting Forms

Reservation forms for space in the Activities Area of the Exhibit Hall at the Annual Meeting in Seattle will be sent out very soon. Hosting a table is a great way to attract new members and show off your Chapter spirit and accomplishments. These forms will go directly to the Chapter Presidents.

Submissions for the AALL General Business Meeting and Members Open Forum

The AALL General Business Meeting will be held July 15th at 4 p.m. during the Annual Meeting in Seattle. It will be followed immediately by the Members Open Forum, which will adjourn no later than 5:15 p.m. If you or your Chapter is interested in submitting a resolution for consideration, please do so by June 24th. Resolutions can be submitted by any AALL entity or member concerning substantive matters. During this year's Members Open Forum, members of the AALL Executive Board will be available to respond to member questions regarding AALL and its programs and activities. In addition to asking questions from the floor, members can also submit questions in advance of the meeting. To submit a question in advance for this year's Open Forum, e-mail ambusmtg@aall.org.

Last Call for Coffee Talks

Everybody knows that the Annual Meeting provides innumerable opportunities to network and learn from other colleagues — and here's one more. To keep the conversation flowing in Seattle, informal Coffee Talk discussions will again be held on Tuesday morning. You can brainstorm, sound off, and share your challenges, experiences, and ideas while strengthening ties to your professional community. This can be a great opportunity to gather fresh, new ideas from other members to take home to your Chapter and implement. If you have a Coffee Talk idea, send it to annualmeeting@aall.org by May 1st. Stay tuned for more details close to the Annual Meeting.

AALL Chapter List Exchange Outreach

All of the Chapter Presidents should have received an e-mail from Director of Membership Marketing and Communications Stacy Schuble requesting participation in a member list exchange with AALL. This initiative is a good way for AALL to develop stronger ties with the Chapters, while also potentially increasing membership at both the AALL and Chapter levels.

As a follow up to Stacy's initial request, she wanted to provide the following information and clarification. To date, all Chapters have been contacted and 6 have opted in, while 4 have chosen not to participate. Also, for those that do opt to participate, AALL will only reach out to the non-AALL members on your list with the opportunity to join the national organization, sharing with them information about the benefits of AALL membership and how by joining both the national organization and their local Chapter they will have twice the support, twice the resources and twice the networking. Non-AALL members will only be contacted once and the list will not be shared with any vendors. Please contact Stacy with any additional questions.

New Website for State Online Legal Information

The Digital Access to Legal Information Committee (DALIC) has created a new website to host information about the status of online legal materials in every state with respect to authentication, official status, preservation, permanent public access, copyright, and universal citation. The website brings together information from AALL's National Inventory of Legal Materials and updates AALL's Preliminary Analysis of AALL's State Legal Inventories, 2007 State-by-State Report on Authentication of Online Legal Resources, and 2009-2010 State Summary Updates.

State pages will be updated as information changes. DALIC will monitor the site and periodically check in with AALL's state working groups to ensure the accuracy of the information. DALIC also welcomes your additions or updates to information about legal materials in your state. Please fill out the Online State Legal Information Form and a member of DALIC will contact you to verify the information you provide.
