Someone said that 'the world is a better place because of those that refuse to believe they cannot fly." Kay and Jean are the first chairs of AALL's Professional Development Committee. And they have demonstrated their ability and our ability to fly. The committee has laid the groundwork for educational programming that will reach all of our members, extending throughout the year and throughout the country the offerings of the Association.

AALL's Strategic plan has the following challenge: "To provide leadership to shape the legal information environment at a time of rapidly changing technology and public policy changes." The Working Group has taken this challenge and applied it in amazingly creative and helpful ways. It has established itself and the American Association of law Libraries as the expert on government use of technology by creating a Web site that is providing this expertise and guidance to state and federal information providers in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government. The Working Group exemplifies the role AALL can and should play as the information expert in the legal environment.
