Congratulations to Jennifer Murray, the newly elected 2008-09 Chair of the Council of Chapter Presidents. Jennifer will take office at the end of the July 12 leadership program in Portland.
Details about the Chapter Leadership Program and Roundtables
The current President and Vice President/President-Elect of each chapter is invited to attend the chapter leadership program on July 12, 2008 in Portland, OR. Later this month I will send an invitation electronically to all members of this list.
The morning session will begin at 7:30 with a continental breakfast and conclude at 11:30 when we adjourn to join the SIS and committee chairs for lunch. The Chapter Professional Development award will be announced at the conclusion of the morning session.
The afternoon session will run from 1:30 until 3:30 with presentations from a number of AALL staff and committee chairs. It is immediately followed by the annual meeting of the Council of Chapter Presidents. The preliminary schedule indicates the Council of Chapter Presidents meeting will be from 3:30-5:00, but it's not likely to last that long.
In addition to the program on July 12 there will be three roundtables. These are listed in the preliminary program that was mailed with the March 2008 issue of the AALL Spectrum.

Form Due for Space in Activities Area
There is still time to make the April 15 deadline for submitting completed forms for space in the AALL Annual Meeting Activities Area are due. At its Spring Board meeting the Board approved having an AALL Members Booth at the annual meeting. The activities area will be near this booth, so the tables will have greater visibility than in past years.
If your chapter plans to have a table in the activities area be sure to send the completed form to Heidi Letzmann, Program Manager, American Association of Law Libraries, 53 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 940, Chicago, IL 60604. The fax number is 312-431-1097 and Heidi's email address is email@example.com.
Remember the Book Drive
The Social Responsibilities SIS is hosting its 20th annual children's book drive. This year the recipient is the Willamette Writers Books for Kids program. It's easy to donate books or gift cards to this worthy cause. The Wish List is available at http://tinyurl.com/2hvv2c or by searching the Powell's Wish List page, with the email: firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also donate a "gift card" from Powell's Books. SR SIS will also be accepting donating during the AALL meeting in Portland.
For more information about the program see http://www.willamettewriters.com/1/books-for-kids.php.
Please let me know the names of your 2008/09 Presidents and Vice Presidents when they take office so I can update the Council of Chapter Presidents discussion list. I will retain the name of the outgoing President until after the July AALL meeting so that she/he will continue to receive announcements.
