Chapter Election Results for Presidents
Please send me the names and email addresses of your new Vice-Presidents. This information will allow me to ensure they are on our listserv and receive information about this summer’s chapter leadership events.
- Remember that the deadline for Chapters to reserve space in the 2009 AALL Annual meeting Activities Area is April 15th.
- Grants are available to provide financial assistance for AALL members attending the AALL Annual Meeting/Workshop Grant. The deadline for submitting grant applications is April 1st.
- The deadline for registering a Chapter VIP for the AALL meeting in D.C. is May 1.
Chapter Leadership Training
Don’t forget to block off Saturday, July 25th in your busy schedules for the Chapter Leadership programs at the 2009 AALL meeting in beautiful Washington, D.C. The presidents and vice presidents of each chapter are invited to participate in this day of a leadership and chapter planning. Roundtables on government relations, meeting management, and treasurer training will also be held at later dates during the meeting.

This session is typically comprised of announcements, guest speakers (including panels), and a general introduction to resources important for incoming chapter leadership. More details will follow in future Council Chats!
11:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M. SIS, Committee and Chapter Leadership Lunch (sponsored by LexisNexis)
Incoming 2009-10 Vice Presidents and Presidents will receive invitations.
1:30 - 3:00 P.M. Professional Development Training
This session is typically comprised of roundtables and networking opportunities. The roundtables are focused on topics that will help your chapter be the best it can be. More details will follow in future Council Chats!
3:30 – 4:30 P.M. Council of Chapter Presidents Business Meeting
At least one individual should attend from each chapter.

AALL Advocacy Toolkit
In his latest e-newsletter, AALL President James Duggan announced AALL's Advocacy Toolkit for the 111th Congress: 2009-2010, a new tool to help AALL chapters (and members) become effective advocates for law libraries. The Toolkit contains some good information that you will want to review. It discusses how AALL chapters can form effective legislative committees. It also provides resources to help chapters influence policy at the federal and state levels by tracking bills, working with coalition partners, and communicating with their members of Congress or their state legislature to achieve the chapter’s legislative goals.
