The AALL Handbook, formerly available in full only in the printed AALL Directory, is now available online via AALLNET. Although some portions of the Handbook were previously available on AALLNET, they were scattered throughout the Web site. Now, thanks to the hard work of Chris Siwa, AALL Web administrator, and Julia O’Donnell, AALL director of publications, a table of contents has been created that provides easy access to the various components of the handbook. Thanks to Executive Board Member Kathie Sullivan for the suggestion and to Raquel Ortiz, AALLNET coordinator, and James Duggan, AALLNET Advisory Committee chair, for their helpful comments.
I’m pleased to announce the latest addition to the AALL Publication Series, published by Hein: Celebrating Diversity: A Legacy of Minority Leadership in AALL. The book, which was jointly edited by Vicente Garces, Ruth Hill, and Carol Avery Nicholson, features profiles of 32 minority law librarians. All royalties for this publication will be contributed to the AALL/West George A. Strait Minority Scholarship Endowment Fund.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, it’s a good time to reflect on things in our professional lives for which we’re grateful. Thanks to the support of a scholarship or grant from AALL, many of us have been able to attend an AALL Annual Meeting, to take a course in either library or law school, or to participate in a workshop. And even if we ourselves haven’t been recipients of these monetary awards, we have all benefited from the wide participation that this funding brings to our profession.
AALL has other funds that support particular programs or activities, such as advocacy, research, or professional development for different sectors of our professional community. A variety of opportunities are made possible by the continued support of individual AALL members. If you haven’t already done so, please consider making a contribution of your own to one of the AALL funds in 2006. On AALLNET you’ll find a list of giving options along with instructions for making your contribution electronically or by mail. The Association is grateful for the generosity of our members and the resulting benefits to our profession.
Sincerely,

Sarah (Sally) Holterhoff
