June 13, 2002

The American Association of Law Libraries signed an agreement with West LegalEdcenter June 5 to provide Internet distribution for selected AALL online distance-learning programs at the 2002 Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla.

West LegalEdcenter, an online provider of legal education programs, will record a selection of programs from the AALL Annual Meeting in July and make them available for on-demand access at its Web site at http://www.WestLegalEdcenter.com after the convention.

In addition, AALL is sponsoring the Berring Legal Research Series, which is the on West LegalEdcenter Web site. Hosted by Bob Berring, professor of law and law librarian at the University of California (Boalt Hall) School of Law, the series focuses on advanced, personalized legal research. Berring is a noted author and lecturer on legal research.

"AALL is pleased to partner with West LegalEdcenter to serve AALL members and a growing, global audience of legal professionals," said Susan E. Fox, AALL executive director. "By focusing on both the specialized competencies and core competencies that form the foundation of our shared knowledge and values, law librarians can forge even stronger connections among employers, institutions, the workplace, colleagues and the profession itself."

West LegalEdcenter offers online legal education programming from local, state and national providers in both audio and video formats. Programs vary in length and pricing and many offer CLE credit. AALL members will be able to purchase the Association's online programs at discounted member rates.
