| Shape AALL's
Future: Volunteer for a Committee Today!
For Immediate Release September 26, 2002 A
Message From AALL Vice President/President Elect Janis L. Johnston All
of us lead very busy lives, but I urge you to make volunteering for an AALL committee
an important professional priority. AALL committee involvement benefits you, your
profession and your professional association. Our committees carry out the work
of AALL, and those committees need your time, energy and talent! Consider
working with your colleagues to shape the future of - AALLNET,
Law Library Journal and AALL Spectrum
- AALL's
government relations policy
- Law
librarian relations with information vendors
- Universal
citation format
- Recruitment
and mentoring activities for the profession
-
AALL's continuing education programs
You'll
find a complete listing of committees and a volunteer form on AALLNET at http://www.aallnet.org/committee/volunteer_form.asp.
The AALL Directory and Handbook includes a complete list of the committees
and their charges. We
need your good ideas, your expertise, and your commitment to AALL and the profession.
As a member-driven association, your participation is essential. And
for you, committee activities expand your professional network, enhance your knowledge
of law librarianship, and provide opportunities for you to participate in creating
the future of your professional association. If
you have never volunteered before, now is the time. We need your creative ideas
and fresh perspective. If you've been involved before, you know how important
your participation can be. Our committees work best when both those with new ideas
and those with experience in AALL work together. In
January, I'll be making committee assignments for the 2003-2004 year, and I hope
to see a volunteer form from you. While I may not be able to make the committee
assignment of your choice, I'll do my best. But I can't make any assignment at
all if you don't volunteer! So
get involved, broaden your horizons, develop your expertise and shape the future
of AALL! Volunteer today!
